Activities and Information

Are you a freshman looking for a Bible study? Are you looking for a way to use your spiritual gifts? Maybe you want to go on a Spring Break mission trip. Or you just want to meet some new friends and hang out. The BCM is the place for you. It doesn't cost anything to join - we don't really have a formal membership process. Just show up to one of our meetings, fill out an Information card and we will add you to our email list. Don't worry - we don't give out your information.

We have so many different ways for you to get involved. Students on our BCM Servant Leadership Team coordinate each of our ministries. Take a look at the opportunities below and let us know if you have more questions. We are here to help you.

  • Encounter - weekly praise and worship service with awesome music and a challenging message from the Word of God. Meets every Tuesday at 7 PM
  • Edge Café - lunch for just $1. Meets every Thursday at 12:30 PM at the BCM
  • Survival 2009 - just for Freshmen and Transfers.  Great way to meet lots of new people. Happens August of each year.
  • Fish Schools/Freshmen Ministry - we know the transition from high school to college can be crazy. Our Freshmen Ministry is designed to help freshmen during their first year of college. Fish Schools are made up of 8-10 freshmen and are led by an upperclassman guy and girl - lovingly known as your Fish School Mom and Dad. Fish Schools meet together once a week for Bible study and hanging out time. All the Fish Schools get together for Freshmen Field Day, Freshmen Mall Hunt, Freshmen Campout, Progressive Dinner to 6 area churches and so much more.
  • Transfer Bible Study - so you are new to FSU, but not new to college life. Come to the transfer Bible study and meet other transfers just like you. Contact us for details.
  • Tribes - Small groups for upperclassmen focusing on fellowship, prayer, Bible study and accountability are offered each semester. Co-ed, guys only, and girls only groups are available. Contact us for a current list.
  • Women's Ministry - sometimes girls just need some "girl time" together. Whether it is through our Big Sister/Little Sister groups, mentoring partnerships with ladies at area churches or just coming together for fellowship, this ministry is a great way to meet other godly, Christian girls
  • Men's Ministry (The "Maynistry")- our country desperately needs men who will step up to the plate and follow God purely and passionately in all areas of their lives. Learn how God can use you to impact your world just like he used guys like Abraham, David, and Paul.
  • Servant Leadership Team - students coordinate all of our ministries. Applications and interviews are held in spring. The new Leadership Team serves two semesters each year. Leadership Team is a great way to use your spiritual gifts, serve others and learn what leadership is all about.
  • Campus Outreach - our campus desperately needs to know Jesus loves them and wants to have a relationship with them. Help us brainstorm ways to reach our campus for Christ. Remember, Jesus said, "Go and make disciples" not "stay at the BCM and play ping pong!"
  • Cell groups - these are student volunteers who aren't on the Leadership Team, but help out with various ministries. Each semester we have a Ministry Fair after Encounter to introduce all of our ministries and allow people to get involved in a cell group.
  • Mission trips - check out our Missions page for more details. We have short and long term mission opportunities available
  • Community Missions - help out the needy people in Tallahassee and the surrounding communities. We have at least 2 or 3 projects each semester.
  • Fellowships - we like to play! Join us for tailgate parties before most home games and other fun events throughout the semester
  • Block Seating at FSU Home Games - this has changed due to FSU ticket changes but we encourage students to get together with other BCM students and sit together.
  • Intramurals - BCM participates in various intramurals in both semesters especially flag football, softball, kickball and anything else if we have enough people to play. Listen for sign-up announcements each week at Encounter and Edge Cafe'?.
  • Heart's Cry Drama Team - communicate spiritual truths through skits and monologues.
  • Undivided music group - if you love to sing, check out Undivided, 6-8 person ensemble. They sing at various churches and community events and travel to Germany on a mission trip each spring.
  • Ministry to International Students - FSU has a large international student population. These students love to have American students who will converse with them in English. We also have Internationals Day each month at the BCM.
  • Conferences & Retreats - Join us each fall in beautiful Laguna Beach for our annual FSU BCM Beach Retreat! Watch for the date to be posted, also Re:Connect, State Retreat in February and National Collegiate Week in August.
  • Retreats - sometimes we just have to get away from it all! Watch for details on upcoming trips.
  • Encouragement Ministry - everyone likes to know they are loved! The Encouragement Ministry
